Kanchanpur: Female health volunteers in Kanchanpur have begun a door-to-door campaign to administer vitamin 'A' and deworming medicine to children as part of the ongoing national health initiative.

Under the campaign, children aged six months to five years are being given vitamin 'A', while those aged one to five years are receiving deworming medicine. The program, scheduled for April 20 and 21, aims to reach children who missed visits to health centers on the first day.

According to Khagendra Karki, Information Officer at the Health Office, Kanchanpur, the target is to administer vitamin 'A' to 37,554 children and deworming medicine to 33,046 children. "On the first day of the campaign, the medication was distributed at vaccination centers and designated sites," he said. "Today, female health volunteers are visiting the homes of children who could not attend and ensuring they receive the doses."

Raju Rana, a women's health volunteer from Kaluwapur, Shuklaphanta Municipality-11, shared that they started home visits early in the morning. "Only a few children came to the center," he said. "We are now reaching out to those who couldn't make it."

The government launched the nationwide vitamin 'A' supplementation program in 2050 BS and has been administering deworming medicine to children since 2056 BS.
