Achham's 12-year-old raped girl gives birth to a daughter

Achham: A 12-year-old girl from Achham's Chaurpati rural municipality, who was a victim of rape in India, has given birth to a daughter.

The 12-year-old girl was raped in Surat, India, by her maternal uncle in Asad last year.

However, the incident of her rape came to light when she was found to be more than 25 weeks pregnant last Falgun. The girl gave birth to a daughter at Seti Provincial Hospital, Dhangadhi on 29 Chaitra.

The parents, who had returned home from India a few months ago, noticed their daughter's large belly and took her to Bayalpata Hospital for a check-up on 2 Falgun. During the visit, it was discovered that she was more than 25 weeks pregnant.

After the parents were told that Bayalpata Hospital and District Hospital Achham could not perform an abortion for pregnancies beyond 25 weeks, the girl was placed in a safe house under the supervision of the One-Stop Crisis Management Center (OCMC) Kailali. The accused of the rape is still absconding.

A case of rape has been registered against the accused, who is about 50 years old, with the Achham police.

However, even after two months of filing a complaint with the police, the accused has not been arrested. Since the accused has not been arrested even after two months of filing the complaint, the relatives are losing hope of getting justice.

Meanwhile, the District Police Office, Achham, says that the process has been taken forward through Interpol to arrest the accused. However, no information has been received about the red notice so far.
