Hailstorm causes damage to agricultural crops in Kailali
Dhangadhi: Agricultural crops in Kailali suffered damage due to a hailstorm that struck the district on Saturday morning.
Farmers have reported that the hail, which accompanied the rainfall, has affected crops such as lentils and wheat in various parts of the district. Phulraj Chaudhary, a farmer from Kailari Rural Municipality-7, stated that the hailstorm has significantly impacted lentil and wheat fields, both of which were in critical growth stages. According to him, lentils had begun to ripen, while wheat was approaching maturity.
The hailstorm was reported in Kailari Rural Municipality, Bhajani Municipality, Tikapur Municipality, Bardagoria Rural Municipality, and other areas. Bhojraj Dhungana of Tikapur Municipality-7 informed that the hail lasted approximately five minutes in the Tikapur area. He noted that since wheat is currently in the flowering stage, the production might decline due to the damage.
"There hasn’t been extensive destruction," Dhungana said, "but the yield may decrease as the hailstorm has affected flowering crops."
