Kanchanpur: Fifteen of the most vulnerable families in Belauri Municipality, Kanchanpur, have been provided with safe houses under the Safe Housing Program.

As part of the initiative, 10 families from Ratanpur and five from Bhuda have received newly constructed homes. The houses were built through a joint cost-sharing effort between the municipality and an NGO. Each house was constructed with a grant of Rs 300,000 from the municipality and an additional Rs 200,000 from the National Institute for Development Studies (NIDS). The beneficiaries have been handed over two-room houses with verandas.

According to local officials, the recipients include families from disaster-affected, tribal, and Dalit communities. Belauri Mayor Ram Bahadur Chaudhary stated that plans are in place to extend the housing initiative to flood-affected and extremely vulnerable families in Wards 5, 6, 7, and 8 in the coming fiscal year.

“Families who were living in unsafe conditions due to lack of proper housing have now received safe and secure homes,” Mayor Chaudhary said. “We are working in a systematic and planned manner to ensure that all families in urban areas have access to safe housing.”
