Gauriganga football tournament to kick off from falgun 20th

Dhangadhi: The Jayaprithi Bahadur Singh Gauriganga National Football Tournament is set to commence in Kailali from Falgun 20, bringing together top teams from across Nepal.

Organized by Gauriganga-11 Sports Club in collaboration with the Sudurpaschim Sports Council and Gauriganga Municipality, the national-level tournament aims to promote football infrastructure and player development in the region.

The champion team will receive a trophy along with a cash prize of Rs 500,000, while the runner-up will be awarded Rs 250,000 and a trophy medal. Individual awards include:

1. Best Player of the Tournament: Rs 50,000
2. Best Goalkeeper, Defender, and Forward: Rs 15,000 each
3. Highest Scorer: Rs 15,000
4. Emerging Player: Rs 15,000
5. Fair Play Team: Rs 15,000
6. Man of the Match (each match): Rs 5,000 and a trophy

Teams from all seven provinces will compete, with participation facilitated by the Provincial Football Association. The tournament will conclude on Falgun 14.

Dinesh Kalel, President of Gauriganga-11 Sports Club, emphasized that the event is dedicated to national celebrities of the Far West Province, under the slogan, "Football infrastructure is the basis of prosperity." This marks the fifth edition of the tournament, now organized under the auspices of the Provincial Sports Council.

"We are hosting this competition with the aim of transforming the highway playground in Kailali into a stadium and advocating for sports development in the region," Kalel stated.

Deepak Bahadur Singh, Member Secretary of the Far West Sports Council, highlighted that the tournament will boost the local sports sector and provide a vital platform for football players to showcase their talent. The matches will take place at the Gauriganga-11 Sports Club Ground in Gauriganga Municipality-8, with all necessary arrangements already completed.
