Four committee Chairmen of Sudurpaschim provincial assembly sworn in

Dhangadhi: Four newly elected chairmen of parliamentary committees in the Sudurpaschim Provincial Assembly took their oath of office on Sunday after being elected unopposed.
Akkal Bahadur Rawal of CPN (Maoist Center) has assumed the role of chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, while Dharmaraj Pathak of CPN (UML) has been sworn in as chairman of the Social Development Committee. Similarly, Ghanashyam Chaudhary of the Nagarik Unmukti Party has taken charge of the Economic Development and Natural Resources Committee, and Tulsi Devkota of the Nepali Congress has been appointed as chairman of the Privilege Committee.
The election process was based on the December 21 agreement between the ruling Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) to distribute committee leadership positions among parties. As per the agreement, the Economic Development and Natural Resources Development Committee was allocated to the Nagarik Unmukti Party, the Social Development Committee to the UML, and the Public Accounts Committee to the CPN (Maoist Center), the main opposition party. The Privilege Committee was assigned to the Nepali Congress.
With this, all parliamentary committees in Sudurpaschim Province now have designated chairpersons. Previously, the committees were led by senior members after their chairpersons were appointed as ministers. The Legislation and Provincial Affairs Committee, chaired by Dewan Singh Bista, remains unchanged.
