Fugitive Thakuri arrested in India after 12 years on the run

Dhangadhi: Dev Singh Thakuri, who escaped from Kailali prison, has been arrested in India after 12 years.
Deepak Bahadur Singh alias Dev Singh Thakuri (48), a resident of Godavari VDC-5, Kailali (now Godavari Municipality-11), was taken into custody by a team from the District Police Office with the help of Indian authorities while hiding in India. Thakuri, who had escaped from Kailali prison while serving a life sentence for manslaughter, also had a theft case worth lakhs filed against him in India.
Criminal Charges Against Thakuri
Duty Murder Case (2062.06.02): Filed by the Nepal Government on behalf of plaintiff Krit Sunar.
Defendants: Deb Singh Thakuri (alias Deepak Bahadur Singh), Tej Bahadur Badaila, and Mohan Singh Badaila.
Accused of murdering Man Bahadur Sunar in the line of duty.
Case No. 30 (Returned from District Court, pending resubmission).
Life Imprisonment for Murder (2064.11.24): Convicted for the murder of Bhakta Bahadur (alias Bam Bahadur) Saud.
Sentenced to life imprisonment with confiscation of all property.
Absconded from Kailali District Jail while serving the sentence.
Case No. 182 (A.Y. 2064.065).
Kidnapping and Hostage Case (2065.03.10):
Accused of kidnapping Sobhan Tamta of Phulbari, Dhangadhi-1, Kailali.
Case No. 350 (A.Y. 2065/066).
Illegal Arms Possession (2066.03.10): Arrested based on the complaint of Dhan Bahadur Kathayat.
Sentenced to one year in prison after investigation on 2066.04.05.
Case No. 349 (A.Y. 2065/066).
Prison Escape Case (2069.04.22): Escaped from Kailali Jail while serving a sentence.
A case is pending against Thakuri along with Lok Bahadur Bohara, Ganesh Chand, and Dil Bahadur Tamta at the Kailali District Court.
Thakuri’s extradition process is now underway for further legal action.
