Two arrested for fraud in foreign employment scam

Dhangadhi: Police have arrested two individuals, including a youth from Doti, for allegedly defrauding people by promising to send them abroad for employment.

The arrested individuals are Purna Bahadur Jethara (29) of Badikedar Rural Municipality-3, Doti, currently residing in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-14, and Raj Kumar Lama (37) of Belkotgadhi Municipality-12, Nuwakot, currently residing in Nagarjun Municipality-2, Kathmandu.

According to police, Purna Bahadur Jethara took Rs. 900,000 from three victims, falsely promising to send them to Portugal, while Raj Kumar Lama took Rs. 550,000 from one victim, claiming he would send them to Japan, before disappearing.

Acting on the complaints of the victims, a team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Teku, arrested Purna Bahadur from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-14 and Raj Kumar from Nagarjun Municipality-2.

Both individuals have been handed over to the Foreign Employment Department, Tahachal, Kathmandu, for further investigation and legal action.
