Mourning holiday declared in Sigas ward 1 following fatal Jeep accident
Baitadi: A mourning holiday has been declared in educational institutions and government offices of Sigas Rural Municipality, Ward 1, Baitadi, following a fatal jeep accident.
According to a notice signed by Ward Chair Ramchandra Airi, the decision was made to honor the victims of the accident that occurred on Saturday in Sigas Rural Municipality-1, which claimed the lives of two residents and left four others injured.
The deceased have been identified as 19-year-old Parbati Dhami and 14-year-old Jayanti Dhami of Kharkeuda, Sigas-1. The injured—40-year-old Tulsi Dhami, 16-year-old Nira Dhami, 19-year-old Hemanti Dhami, and 14-year-old Bhagarathi Dhami, all residents of Sigas-1—are currently receiving treatment.
The incident occurred at approximately 5 a.m. on Saturday when a jeep (registration number 01-001 Cha 4028) returning from Gadan via Tallo Irana veered off an unpaved road at a location called Madau and fell about 500 meters. The jeep was being driven by Jayant Bohara of Sigas-1, who is reportedly a co-driver of another vehicle. Bohara is currently absconding, and police have launched a search for him.
