Dipendra Singh Airee emerges as strong contender for NPL car award
Dhangadhi: The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has announced that the best-performing Nepali player in the Nepal Premier League (NPL) will be awarded an Omoda car.
The award will be presented to the standout domestic player following the final match between Sudurpaschim Royals and Janakpur Bolts. CAN has stated that the car will be awarded based on the players’ overall performance throughout the league, including the final.
Sudurpaschim Royals, led by Dipendra Singh Airee, have reached the finals, with Airee delivering exceptional performances in batting, bowling, and fielding. His ability to adapt his game to the team’s needs has been a standout feature of the tournament. Airee scored a crucial half-century in one match and was named Man of the Match for his unbeaten 47 runs against Biratnagar.
Throughout the league, he demonstrated consistency with the bat, scoring runs at an average of 43. His contributions include 43 runs against Kathmandu Gurkhas, an unbeaten 43 runs against Lumbini, 20 runs against Pokhara, and 38 runs against Karnali. Although dismissed for a duck against Janakpur in the league stage, his overall performance has been impressive.
In addition to his batting, Airee has been instrumental with the ball, taking eight wickets in the tournament. His ability to provide crucial breakthroughs and contribute in all facets of the game has positioned him as a top contender for the award.
Dipendra Singh Airee now has the opportunity to further solidify his claim to the car award in the final match. Should he deliver another stellar performance in both batting and bowling, he is expected to emerge as the best Nepali player in the league.
