Injured leopard escapes snare, causes panic in Baitadi
Baitadi: Residents of Dasharathchand Municipality, Baitadi, are in fear after a leopard escaped from a snare, raising concerns about potential attacks.
The leopard was caught in an iron wire snare on Monday night in Dehimandau Kumaligad, Dasharathchand Municipality-2. The snare, originally set to protect crops from wild boars, ensnared the leopard by its neck. However, the leopard managed to break free, leaving with a severe neck injury.
Local residents, including Manoj Bohara, expressed concern that the delayed arrival of the rescue team from Shuklaphanta National Park allowed the leopard to escape. The injured condition of the animal has heightened fears of an attack, prompting authorities to urge vigilance among locals.
This incident follows a similar case on Asoj 11, when another leopard was trapped in a pit in Dasharathchand Municipality-1. That leopard also escaped the following day on Asoj 12, adding to the growing anxiety in the region.
