Chief election officer's office established in Kanchanpur for by-elections
Kanchanpur: The Chief Election Officer's Office has been established in Bhimdatta Municipality-6, Kanchanpur, to facilitate the upcoming local-level by-elections scheduled for Mangshir 16.
This office has been set up to oversee the election for the vacant Ward Chairperson post in Ward No. 6 of the municipality. District Court Judge Lilaraj Adhikari has been appointed as the Chief Election Officer. Udayraj Joshi, Chief of the District Election Office, confirmed that the office became operational from Friday, with preparations underway for the election.
"We are managing the necessary materials for the election and arranging manpower," said Joshi, adding that six volunteers will be stationed at the polling center.
According to the final voter list published by the Election Office, there are 5,434 eligible voters in the ward, comprising 2,665 male and 2,769 female voters. Efforts are being made to ensure that all polling stations are accessible and disabled-friendly.
Per the election schedule, candidate nominations will be registered on Mangshir 2, with the final list published on November 5. Election symbols will be distributed, and campaigning will take place from Mangshir 6 to 13. Voting will occur on Mangshir 16, from 7 AM to 5 PM, at the designated polling station located at Shanti Niketan Secondary School.
