Man Arrested in Kanchanpur on Charge of Wife Rape

Dhangadhi — A 33-year-old man has been arrested on charges of raping his wife.

Objang Shah, a resident of Belauri Municipality-10 Shiv Nagar in Kanchanpur, was apprehended in Nepalgunj on Monday, according to Police Inspector Saund of the Area Police Office, Sukhad, Kailali. Shah's wife had lodged a complaint accusing him of rape, leading to the District Court of Kailali issuing an arrest warrant on June 17. Shah had been evading arrest since the warrant was issued.

Following his arrest, Shah was transferred to the Area Police Office in Sukhad, where he is currently being held in custody. Inspector Saund stated that the investigation into the case will be extended by the district court on Tuesday.

The arrest underscores the ongoing efforts by local authorities to address and prosecute cases of domestic violence and sexual assault within marital relationships.
