HoR meeting: PM Dahal asked to brief House about his India visit
Kathmandu: Chief Whip of the Nepali Congress, Ramesh Lekhak, has demanded Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' to brief the House about his recent India visit.
Speaking in emergency hour of today's meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR), Chief Whip Lekhak shared that in the parliamentary practice, there is a practice that Prime Minister should inform the House while embarking to any friendly nation.
He mentioned, "The Prime Minister embarked on a two-day India visit on June 9. He has not yet briefed the House about his visit even five days passed. As the leader of the opposition, I had to remind the Prime Minister that he is the leader of the House.
Prime Minister Dahal had embarked on a two-day India visit on June 9 to attend the swearing -in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for third tenure. Stating that President Ramchandra Paudel has left here on June 11 to participate in the 112th session of the International Labour Conference,
NC leader Lekhak explained that it is not good for the House to get information about the visit of President and Prime Minister reading newspaper. He underlined that not only the Head of the State and Prime Minister, but there is a practice in some of the countries that ministers also go in foreign visit informing the House when the House is in session.
Lekhak further said that the Speaker should make the ruling in a special way. He also demanded Speaker Devraj Ghimire to inform the House about India visit of the Prime Minister and foreign visit of the President soon after the commencement of the next Parliament meeting.
