Dhangadhi Honors Two Writers with One Lakh Each

Dhangadhi: Today in Dhangadhi, two distinguished writers were awarded the prestigious Maniraj Wangmay Award, each receiving one lakh rupees in recognition of their literary contributions.

The recipients of this esteemed award are Dr. Vasudev Tripathi, a senior critic, writer, and linguist at the Nepali Literature and Culture Academy Godavari, and Professor Dr. Chudamani Bandhu, a senior cultural expert, writer, and linguist. Additionally, writer and scholar Laxmikant Joshi Regmi and writer Nara Joshi were bestowed with the Jairaj Pant and Nrip Bahadur Swaran awards, respectively.

In a ceremony held today in Dhangadhi, Sudurpaschim Province Chief Minister Nazir Mian presented the awards to both writers, along with a cash prize of one lakh rupees, certificates, and dosallas.

The Maniraj Vangmay Award, established by the renowned epic poet and astrologer Maniraj Joshi and his family members, Govind, Tara, and Vasantraj Joshi, aims to recognize and encourage literary excellence. The Joshi family has allocated a budget of Rs 10 lakhs for this prestigious award.

Padmaraj Joshi, president of the foundation and a senior writer, highlighted that the Maniraj Vangmay Award has been honoring literary figures for the past six years. Previously, notable figures such as National Poet Madhav Prasad Ghimire, Professor Dadhiraj Subedi, former Prime Minister and Senior Literary Lokendra Bahadur Chand, and novelist, storyteller, and critic Tulsi Bhattarai have been recipients of this esteemed award. Joshi further mentioned that awards delayed from 2078 BS and 2079 BS due to official reasons were conferred this year.
