Star City and Farwest Pashupati Vie for Gauriganga Gold Cup Title
Dhangadhi: The fourth edition of the Gauriganga Gold Cup 2080, taking place at Gauriganga in Kailali, has reached its pinnacle as Star City Boys Union Club and Farwest Pashupati Yuva Club advance to compete for the coveted title.
In the eagerly anticipated championship match set for tomorrow, both teams expressed unwavering confidence in securing victory. During the pre-match press conference held at Likma Stadium today, representatives from the finalists affirmed their determination to clinch the championship.
Kapil Dhakal, leading Star City Boys Union Club to the finals for the second consecutive year, exuded assurance in his team's capabilities, citing the experience of his players as a decisive factor. Dhakal emphasized the consistent performance of his squad throughout the tournament, pledging a relentless effort to seize the title.
Counterpart Amanat Sekh, captain of Farwest Pashupati Yuva Club, highlighted the youthful vigor and local talent within his team, expressing conviction in their ability to emerge victorious. Sekh credited the remarkable journey of his young players to the final and declared their readiness to claim the championship.
The much-anticipated final showdown is scheduled to take place tomorrow (Thursday) at Likma Stadium. The victor of this esteemed tournament, which has been a staple event since its inception in 2074 at Gauriganga in Kailali, will be awarded a trophy, medal, and certificate, along with a cash prize of 6 lakhs. The runners-up will receive 3 lakhs in addition to other individual accolades, including 50,000 for the best player, 15,000 each for outstanding category players, and 5,000 for the man of the match in each game.
