Kanchanpur: A clandestinely kept 15-year-old girl has been successfully rescued from Bhimdatta Municipality-10, Jimuwa, in a joint effort by Maiti Nepal Kanchanpur and local authorities.

The girl, originally from Uttarakhand, India, had gone missing from her home a week ago, prompting her family to file a complaint with the police and various organizations. Following an unsuccessful search, Indian authorities sought assistance from Maiti Nepal Kanchanpur to locate her.

Acting on collected and verified information from suspicious areas through their network, Maiti Nepal Kanchanpur collaborated with the District Police Office to conduct a successful raid on the house of a person belonging to the Tamata tribe in Bhimdatta Municipality-10, Jimuwa. The rescue operation revealed that Laxman Tamata, employed in a Pithoragarh hotel, had been hiding the girl at his elder father's residence in Lalifekai Jimwa.

Maheshwari Bhatt, the coordinator of Maiti Nepal Kanchanpur, reported that following the rescue, the girl was handed over to Reeds, an Indian organization actively combating human trafficking and abduction, to facilitate her reunion with her family. The successful rescue underscores the collaborative efforts in the fight against human trafficking and the protection of vulnerable individuals.
