Law Enforcement Apprehends Duo for Extortion and Death Threats in Kanchanpur
Dhangadhi: In a significant breakthrough, the police in Kanchanpur have successfully arrested two individuals on charges of demanding money under the threat of violence, including death. The apprehended suspects are Naresh Sanaud, a resident of Lekam Rural Municipality-1 in Darchula, and Chandradev Joshi, residing in Dogdakedar Rural Municipality-7 of Baitadi and located behind Mahendranagar Bus Park.
The District Police Office officially disclosed their arrests during a press conference held on Tuesday. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Prakash Dangi, the spokesperson for the District Police Office, revealed that the duo has been engaging in extortion activities, threatening civilians and business owners across the entirety of Kanchanpur district, including Lalpur of Vedkot Municipality-7.
According to police reports, the modus operandi involved the suspects demanding money through phone calls and text messages, accompanied by explicit threats of violence, including the threat of death. DSP Dangi emphasized that the arrest and subsequent detention were executed based on credible and specific information gathered during the course of the investigation. The authorities are actively pursuing legal action against the arrested individuals in accordance with the law.
