Tragic Death of Young Man in Kailali Police Custody

Dhangadhi: A sorrowful incident has unfolded in Kailali, as a young man under police custody has passed away. The District Police Office Kailali's spokesperson, Kuldeep Chand, reported that Krishna Setty, who was in police custody, has sadly lost his life.

Krishna Setty had been detained on charges related to the alleged killing of Lal Bahadur Thapa, aged 38, whom he was accused of striking with a bamboo stick in the vicinity of Ward No. 16, Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City. According to Chand, on Thursday, the police had brought Setty out of his jail cell to record a statement. Tragically, during this process, 31-year-old Setty became unresponsive and subsequently passed away while undergoing medical treatment at Seti Provincial Hospital. The precise cause of his untimely demise remains undisclosed.

Krishna's family, notably his father, Dai Ganesh Setty, expressed that Krishna had been in good health as of Wednesday evening. He conveyed his shock and disbelief, saying, "We were coming here today with our daughter-in-law when we received a call from the police. We rushed him to the hospital. We have no information regarding what transpired with the police."

As detailed by Chand, the spokesperson of the District Police Office in Kailali, Krishna Setty, who was also a local businessman, was implicated in the case involving the alleged assault on Thapa with a bamboo stick, with accusations linked to the theft of liquor. The investigation was initiated following an extension granted by the District Court Kailali, after the tragic incident involving Thapa. Subsequently, a police team, including Deputy Superintendent of Police Chand from the District Police Office in Kailali, was dispatched to the scene on Tuesday to commence their inquiry.
