Two Individuals Apprehended in Kanchanpur with Illegally Imported Goods Valued at 1 Million

Kanchanpur: In a recent development, two individuals have been detained in Kanchanpur on charges of possessing goods that have been smuggled into the country without adhering to customs regulations. The arrested individuals are identified as Sushil Kumar Dewal from Bhimdatta Municipality-4 and Rajendra Dewal from Soehi Municipality-18.

The Information Officer of the District Police Office in Kanchanpur, Prakash Dangi, revealed that the arrests were made in connection with a truck loaded with various items, including foodstuff, footwear, and wheat, collectively valued at approximately NPR 1,082,942. These goods had been illicitly imported from India and were discovered within the premises of a shop and warehouse operated by both suspects at their residence.

Spokesperson Dangi further noted that both individuals have been transferred to the customs office located in Gaddachouki, where the seized goods will be scrutinized, and appropriate legal actions will be taken in accordance with customs regulations. This incident underscores the commitment to upholding customs and import laws, ensuring a level playing field for all businesses and traders in the region.
