Kanchanpur: A rampaging herd of elephants wreaked havoc by demolishing three homes in the picturesque district of Kanchanpur. The incident unfolded in the remote Chapartala village situated in the northern region of the district.

Under the cover of darkness on Wednesday night, a herd of wild elephants descended upon Chapartala, specifically targeting homes within Krishnapur Municipality-4. Dharma Bahadur Singh, the conscientious Ward President of Krishnapur Municipality-4, reported the grim occurrence, explaining that the marauding elephants penetrated the village, inflicting substantial damage to residences and precious crops.

Ward President Singh shared that the affected houses belonged to Shyanu Chaudhary, Gopal Chaudhary, and Jairaj Chaudhary, leaving these families distraught and their homes in ruins.

The consequences of this heart-wrenching incident extend beyond the destruction of homes. The livelihoods of approximately 15 residents of the village have been significantly impacted, with three and a half to four bighas of paddy crops razed to the ground. These farmers find themselves in a precarious situation, grappling with the loss of a paddy crop that was on the verge of maturing.
