Traffic police in Dhangadhi begin drug testing
Dhangadhi: Drug test kits have been introduced in Far-West. The state police office Dhangadhi has introduced a technology-based drug test kit.
The state police office has provided the kits to the district traffic police office Kailali. The traffic police has started testing passengers. Chief of District Traffic Police Office, Kailali, Virendra Johari, has been working to check drivers with the help of this type of equipment in Dhangadhi since Friday. He said that although the technical drug test kit is suitable for checking, the kit is very expensive.
The traffic police from Dhangadhi have arrested 7 drivers with the help of a technological drug test kit and have handed them over to the district police office Kailali. Provincial Police Chief DIG Bharat Bahadur Bohra said that the work of checking the drivers is underway by ordering drug test kits from Kathmandu.
With the help of this technology, 33-year-old Bhimraj Awasthi of Ganyapadhura rural municipality-1 of Dadeldhura was arrested by the traffic police and handed over to the police. He was tested positive on the 6-lane road in Dhangadhi. He was then arrested and sent to the District Police Office Kailali for further investigation. Similarly, in the test conducted on Saturday, six more people were arrested by the traffic police. They were arrested from Dhangadhi sub-metropolitan city-13 Rajpur.
Tipper driver Diwakar Bhujel, 34 years old from Shuklaphata Municipality-5, another tipper driver Ramesh Bhattarai, 30 years old from Dadeldhura Amargadhi Municipality-4, Yadav Bohra, 31 years old from Godawari Municipality-8, force driver, Mahadev Joshi, 36 years old from Godawari Municipality-12, bus driver. The traffic police said that the driver of the winger, Bidus Rana, 25, of Dhangadhi sub-metropolitan city-3, and Arjun Rawal, 31, of Bedkot municipality-10, the driver of the winger, were arrested by the traffic police and handed over to the district police office, Kailali.
