Rivers and streams blocked due to landslide in Chure

Dhangadhi: Rivers and streams have been blocked due to landslides in Chure of Kailali. The water of Bhasu river, Khanidanda river and Jaljala river in Maitad, Chure rural municipality ward number 5 of the district have been blocked due to landslides. According to the locals, the rivers are appearing like lakes due to the landslide.

There is a risk of damage to the low-lying areas due to floods caused by the same. According to the ward president Bir Bahadur Dhami, areas like Chaumala Kulmuda of Godawari municipality could get affected due to river blockage. Locals have said that the water accumulated is 500 meters long and 50 meters deep.

The police have also been carrying out on-site surveillance. The police have also collected a list of houses at risk. But Kuldeep Chand, spokesperson of District Police Office Kailali, is unaware of the risk involved. Fultude police said that there are two houses in brink of danger in the area.
