Relatives Stage Protest at District Police Office Following Woman's Tragic Demise in Dhangadhi

Dhangadhi: Tragedy struck when a 35-year-old woman, identified as Priti Thapa from Dhangadhi sub-metropolis-12 Jugeda, lost her life after receiving medication at a local clinic. The incident unfolded at the Mary Stop community clinic on the hospital line, where Thapa had sought an abortion.

Reports from the Kailali police reveal that Thapa underwent an abortion procedure (curettage) on Thursday morning at the aforementioned clinic. Subsequently, she was administered medication. Tragically, the medication led to severe bleeding, prompting her immediate transfer to Seti Hospital. Regrettably, she passed away during the course of her treatment.

In response to the situation, authorities have detained one of the medical practitioners involved, Vinodmani Joshi. An ongoing investigation is being conducted into the matter, as stated by Kuldeep Chand, a police inspector at the Kailali district police office. Chand emphasized the need to determine whether any negligence was involved on the part of the medical personnel.

Following the incident, Vinodmani Joshi, a 25-year-old individual hailing from Godavari Municipality-2 and the proprietor of the clinic in question, was apprehended. Expressing their dissatisfaction with the developments, relatives of the deceased have taken a firm stance. They have staged a peaceful demonstration in front of the district police office, demanding appropriate action against those responsible. The demonstration involved a peaceful protest and a temporary road blockade, showcasing the gravity of their concerns.
