Preliminary investigation into the murder of a 10-year-old boy by his stepmother in Dhangadhi

Dhangadhi: It has been four days since 10-year-old Nishan Thapa Magar was found dead in Dhangadhi. Thapa Magar, who was living with his stepmother Maghi Rokaya, was found dead in Shikhar Tole of Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan Ward No. 2 on November 18. Rokaya is absconding with her son and daughter. Nishan's mother has lodged a FIR at the District Police Office, Kailali, alleging that Rokaya had committed the murder. Deputy Superintendent of Police, District Police Office, Kailali, Prateek Bist said that search was on for the accused.

"A 10-year-old boy has not been identified as a natural victim," he said. According to a Kailali police officer involved in the investigation, it has been revealed that Nishan was killed by his stepmother after consuming a poisonous substance. Kailali District Police Office Superintendent of Police Vishwa Adhikari says, "Maghi Rokaya is absconding with a son and a daughter." Foam has come out of the mouth of the deceased. Postmortem and visa tests will be followed by further investigation into the incident.

Maghi Rokaya, wife of Bahadur Rokaya of Khaptad Chhededah municpality Ward No. 2 of Bajura was living in Shikhar Tole of Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan Ward No. 2. She also had a son and a daughter. They had been staying at Rohini Joshi's house. Joshi's family has been living in India while the entire responsibility of the two-room house was given to Maghi Rokaya. After Bahadur's second marriage, the youngest wife brought a son from Mait. He was 10-year-old Nishan Thapa Magar. Bahadur started living in India with his youngest wife and kept Nishan in Dhangadhi with his eldest wife Maghi.

After failing to get in touch with Maghi after Kartik 30, Bahadur sent his relatives to the house where Maghi was staying at Shikhar Tole to search for him. Maghi and his children were not there and 10-year-old Nishan was found dead.
