The annual fair to begin in Ugratara, Dadeldhura
Dhangadhi: The annual fair (Dehijant) at Ugratara Bhagwati Temple in Dadeldhura, a famous festival of the Far-West, will be held on Friday. The Ugratara Area Development Committee has stated that it will be held today (Thursday) and tomorrow at noon. Tej Bahadur Sanki, chairman of the committee, said that the risk of Coronavirus infection was limited last Nitya Puja last and they claim to be cautious about its prevention.
In Ugratara, on the night of Kartik Shukla Purnima, there is Ratadi and on the second day, Diusedi. After Ratadi, they worship Goddess Bhagwati at four o'clock in the morning with the religious tradition of Dain Damah, Ruising, Bikul, Bhokar, Shanka, Ghanta etc.
After the morning puja, in the afternoon, Bhagwati Mata's Ganj temple and hundreds of acres of ground are spread in four special places with bajaganja. The fair concludes when Mother Bhagwati's daughter-in-law, who was brought from all four villages in the morning, is taken on a tour of all four villages again at 5 pm.
The temple of Ugratara Bhagwati is located on the beautiful hill of Amargadhi Municipality-8, 4 kilometers away from the Dadeldhura headquarters. Ugratara Festival is famous for its business opportunities and meeting with relatives. There is a good trade of berna of various locally produced items including pathan, various green vegetables and onions, along with the disappearing grains like phampar, bhimur, timur, sesame seeds, ginger, turmeric, honey, orange and seasonal banana etc.
According to legend, the locals of Sanki caste living in Latauli, now Amargadhi Municipality, have been worshiping Ugratara Bhagwati in the form of Mahagauri Durga and Kali since that day.
The temple of Ugratara Bhagwati is one of the important Shakti Peeths of western Nepal. There is a big fair on Chaite Ashtami, Ashtami day of Vijaya Dashami, Vijaya Dashami day and Kattik Purnima.
